Gopalswamy betta is situated adjacent to the bandipur national park. The altitude of the hill is 1450 meters from sea level. Most of the times hill is covered with mist. From the top we can see exciting views of Bandipur national park. The hill road is made for Gopalaswamy temple and the road is very steep in some places.
We can walk around on the hill and there are some view points. From the hill bandipur national park looks very beautiful. There are chances to see wild life around the hill. The climate drastically changes when you climb the hill. The area around the Gundlupet is some what dry, but top of the hill the climate is very cool and pleasant.
Bandipur forest view
We can visit this place while going to ooty or while coming back from ooty. I have visited this place while coming back from ooty.
We can stay at bandipur forest department guest house , MC resort or there are many hotels available in Gundlupet. For forest department guest house, we need to book in Mysore. (Ph: 08212480901). Jungle lodges and resorts guest house is also there but not inside the forest few km from the forest and expensive also.

It comes around 210 km from Bangalore. The route is like this Bangalore-Mysore-Nanjangud-Gundlupet-Himvad Gopalswamy betta. Just cross the Gundlupet and continue the same route for 7-8 km and take right turn to goto Gopalswamy hill. Ask locals for route. From the deviation it is 11km and 6km is normal road and 5km is steep ghat road. It has very few hair pin bends.
