Rangaswamy Betta is good one day trekking place from Bangalore. It is contiguous to Deverabetta and Bannergatta Natioal Park. It is about 65km from Bangalore. We need to park our vehicles at Koonadoddi village and walk about 2km from this village to reach trek start point. There is small temple at the foothills. Climb starts from there.

Nothing available at top, carry at least 2liters of water per person. Looks like this place has leopards and elephants. We had seen a leopard pug-mark in the middle of the trail and elephants droppings at the top. It is better to avoid trekking alone. It takes around 2 hours to reach top and climbing down is relatively easy.

Start trek in the morning to avoid hot sun. There are two routes we can take. Take kankapura road and take left at Harohalli bus stand. Follow this route and look for Maralavadi sign board. Take right from Main road to go to maralavadi from here Koonadoddi is around 7km. Other route is via Bannergatta. Take bannergatta road, at banneragatta juntion take rigt which will goto anekal. Much before anekal at jigini take right which will goto the harohalli village much before harohalli take left after Bannergatta check post to goto Maralavadi this route is much shorter than kankapura route.
