Wayanad is a district in kerala. Whole district is beautiful with hills valleys and forests. Waynad receives heavy rain in monsoon season. If you want to see heavy rain visit this place in off-season (Monsoon). But be careful leeches will be there.
We went to waynad in summer. First day we stayed in Sultan Battery and next day in Kalpetta in hotel haritagiri.
Bandipur National park
Roads in wayanad are excellent. If you have own car this is great place to explore. Kuruva Island is excellent place to visit and other places includes Soochipara Waterfalls, Meenmutty Water Fall, Pakshipathalam. If you like trekking go trekking to chembra peak of altitude 2100 MSL, but avoid monsoon(June-august). There are many other tourist places are there here just find out information from your hotel.
It is around 280 km from Bangalore. The route is like this Bangalore-Mysore-Gundlupet-Sultan Battery . Don't forgot take right turn in Gundlupet town. Strait road goes to Ooty.
Near Kuruva Island
En-route we have to cross a small stretch of Bandipur national park of karnataka and after the karnataka border we have to cross Muthanga Wild Life Sanctuary. The whole streach is beautiful and good chances of seeing wild-elephants and spotted deer and rarely leopard.
Orchid (Cymbidium bicolor)
I have seen many orchids species here just like in coorg.
Soochipara Waterfalls
Hotel haritagiri is very good hotel in Kalpetta this has swimming pool and restaurant. If you are planning to go on weekend book in advance.
